Wrong-Way Driver Nearly 2X Legal Limit Hits 2 Cars In Virginia, Police Say

A 26-year-old woman was nearly twice the legal limit when she struck a car and was caught driving the wrong way in Virginia, police said.

Raechel Chittum was spotted going the wrong way down the 900 block of Princess Anne Street, a one-way street, by a Fredericksburg police officer on Saturday, June 1, the department said in a release.

After stopping her Ford Explorer, the officer was approached by a witness who said the vehicle had just struck an occupied car on George Street and failed to stop. 

After an investigation, the officer arrested Chittum. While at the magistrate, another victim came forward with evidence that Chittum also struck a parked vehicle on Caroline Street, police said.

Chittum  was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence with a BAC of .15 or more, felony hit-and-run with injury, misdemeanor hit-and-run, and a Wrong-Way Street violation. She was turned over to the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $2,500 unsecured bond.
